English Electric Canberra T.17 (WJ565). Built in 1953 as a Canberra B.2. First assignments were to A&AEE for bombing trials, then to Boulton Paul for development of the ‘BP Gunpack’. Converted to T.17 standard between March 1966 to October 1967 and subsequently issued to No. 360 Squadron who operated WJ565 till November 1981, when it was flown to RAF St Athan for storage. Allocated as a ground instructional airframe, WJ565 was used for training the RAF's maintenance engineers at RAF Cosford till it was scrapped in September 1991. The cockpit section survived and arrived at the museum in 2003.
