English Electric Canberra TT.8 (WH887). Delivered in January 1954 as a B.2 Canberra to RAF No. 1323 Flight carrying out atmospheric sampling during thermonuclear bomb trials at Bikni and Eniwetok Atolls in the Pacific. Returned to the U.K. and served with No. 542 and No. 21 Squadrons. In 1968 was converted to a TT.18 target tug and transferred to the Royal Navy. In 1983, WH887 was damaged by a bursting shell and after repairs was put into storage. She was returned to service in February 1985 on loan for trials work, until placed into storage again in 1987. WH887 was again returned to service in 1989 and flew on until her retirement in November 1992. Her last flight was in December 1992 from RNAS Yeovilton to TEE Llanbedr where she was used for spares until put on the fire dump in 1997. In 2004 WH887 was sold for scrap. The cockpit section was saved from a skip and restored by Matt Bundle and Sean Edwards and eventually purchased by SYAM in 2014.
