Northrop YF‑23A “Black Widow II” Advanced Tactical Fighter (PAV‑2). (S/N. 87‑0801). The second of two prototypes built by Northrop/McDonnell Douglas for the Advanced Tactical Fighter (ATF) competition. This aircraft first flew on October 27th, 1990 with Northrop test pilot Jim Sandberg at the controls. The YF‑23A eventually lost out in the ATF competition to the Lockheed/Boeing/General Dynamics YF‑22A, later to become the F‑22 Raptor.
